Old West Saloon Nite:

There's only one nite a year you can buy real drinkin' whiskey over Bob Ford's historic bar in the museum saloon and this is it!   Gamblers, Gunslingers and Soiled Doves Welcome!   Free grub while it lasts-donations cheerfully accepted.   This is a museum fund raiser.   Contact Kiowa Jak, Francisco Fort staff or the La Veta/Cuchara Chamber of Commerce (719) 742-5501.   June 2nd, 4:00pm - 9:00pm.

Francisco Fort Day:

A fun filled day of family entertainment, food, historic reenactments, games, contests and museum tours.   Historic dress encouraged.   July 28.

Ongoing:

See the new bronze casting of The Miner in the Walsenburg museum.   The original was carved by Walter Way, former superintendent of Re-1 school district, and modeled by Jake Pino.   Nick Moffit is casting the replacement using the original wooden miner as the form.   Families are contributing $100 each to have the names of miners engraved on the black granite base (102 names are already collected).   To add a miner's name, contact Walsenburg Minig Museum, PO Box 134, Walsenburg, CO 81089 or call Margaret Gleisberg at 719-738-0629.  

History Lives Saturday:

The Gunfighter--Legend and Myth: Patrick Staley.   Were they the legendary killers that popular fiction suggests?  
June 16.

The Foster House Stagecoach Station: William Tilley.   Learn about an important outpost on the Mountain Branch of the Santa Fe Trail.   June 30.

Herbal Wool Dyeing: Rebecca Staley and Debra Ball.   Demonstration and discussion of the frontier art of coloring wool and other fabrics utilizing local vegetation.   July 14, 10:00am - 4:00pm.
